Mexican sunflower field at Doi Mae U-Kho

25 Kilometers away from Khun Yuam District Office, Doi Mae U-Kho’s Mexican sunflower field is located at Moo 6, Tambol Mae Au Kho, Amphoe Khun Yuam, Maehongson. Possessing more than 2,000 square meters, it is the country’s largest Mexican sunflower field. The field is presently under the responsibility of Section 5, Highland Forest Development Project, Division of Watershed Conservation.

Doi Mae U-Kho’s Mexican sunflower field is listed among the most famous natural tourist attractions in Maehongson Province. There lies the green mountainous landscape with the golde sunflowers spreading all over the area. When the first winter breeze comes knocking the door around November – December, millions of the Mexican sunflowers will burst out into blossom, attracting visitors from all over the country.  The hilly field will turn out to be elegantly golden as if it is covered with a giant golden carpet. It is truly an ‘Amazing Thailand’ that one should witness once in their life. The most popular spot to see the breathtaking Mexican sunflower field is at Doi Mae U-Kho(‘doi’ means mountain) from which visitor can enjoy the 360-degree panoramic view.

Besides, there is a rental tent service for those who wish to stay over at the field. Please contact the Mexican Sunflower Field Office on site or Khun Yuam District Office at +66 5369 1108.

Visitors can get there via the Highway No. 108 from Maehongson. When reaching 201st Kilometer, turn to the Highway No. 1263 and go straight for 12 kilometers until you see an intersection. Turn to Ban Na Nqiw-Ban Hua Ha Road and continue going for 14 kilometer until you arrive at Doi Mae U-Kho. If starting from Amphoe Mae Cham, Chiang Mai Province, take the Highway No. 1263 (Mae Cham-Khum Yuam) for around 76 kilometers. Turn to Ban Na Nqiw-Ban Hua Ha Road and go further for 14 kilometers until you reach the destination.

The Mexican sunflower field opens every day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. with free admission. For more information, please contact +66 5361 2982 ext. 3.
